revealed close to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, on Tuesday, that the latter gave Sadr's joints and its leaders the freedom to participate in demonstrations.
The source said that "as of now, there was no directive to the current supporters to participate in the demonstrations of 25 October."
He added that "a large number of supporters of the Sadrists participate in the demonstrations, as the Sadrists are part of Iraqi society, which has been suffering for years from government failure, but their participation is not directed, but personally, and these have participated since the start of the protests on 1 October."
The source continued, "Al-Sadr, since the start of the protests until this hour, did not issue any directive, even secretly to the joints of the current and its leadership, not to participate in the demonstrations, but gave them the freedom to do so, because they are part of the Iraqi people."
Angry popular protests erupted earlier this month demanding regime change from parliamentary to presidential and the elimination of corruption and the provision of jobs and services.
