"I said in the past that there are 10,000 ISIS fighters in prisons and the security of these prisons has to be guaranteed," he told the National Assembly, referring to Kurdish-controlled detention camps in northeastern Syria.
"For this reason, I will go, at the request of the President of the Republic, to Iraq soon, to talk with all parties, including the Kurds, about the reality of the security situation and our own security."
Turkey's October 9 operation against the YPG in northeastern Syria raises fears that foreign fighters detained in that area may flee or be released.
Some 12,000 ISIS fighters, including 2,500 to 3,000 foreigners, are being held in Kurdish-controlled prisons, according to Kurdish sources.
