China calls on Turkey to stop hostilities in Syria and return to a political settlement, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a press conference.
"China opposes the use of force in international relations. We believe that all parties should fully comply with the principles and objectives of the UN Charter, as well as the rules of international relations, and seek ways of a diplomatic political settlement of the problem under international law," said Shuang.
He stressed that "Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and unity must be respected and protected," stressing that Beijing "urges Turkey to stop hostilities and return to the right track of a political settlement."
