A source in the Integrity Commission, revealed on Wednesday that Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi is unable to fight corruption, because he knows that everyone is involved, even before working with them when he took office a year ago.
"Corruption in Iraq - which ranks 12 in the list of the most corrupt countries in the world according to Transparency International - lies in three files," the source said.
He added, "These files are the border outlets, oil smuggling, and state real estate, and if eliminated, the volume of corruption fell a lot."
More than a week ago, Abdul-Mahdi announced that he had handed over to the judiciary a list of 1,000 employees accused of corruption, vowing to provide a preliminary list of senior officials.
