Washington imposed Friday, customs duties on imports of European goods group valued at $ 7.5 billion, an aggressive new president , Donald Trump, despite the European threats to take similar retaliatory measures.
The tariffs came into effect at midnight and include planes produced by Airbus, French wine and Scottish whiskey.
Earlier this month, the United States announced its intention to impose these duties on European goods worth 7.5 billion dollars, after the World Trade Organization authorized Washington to move forward in response to the European Union's official support of the company "Airbus" aircraft manufacturer.
The US tariffs are 10 percent on aircraft imported from the European Union and 25 percent on other products, including wine, cheese, coffee and olives, according to a list published by the US Trade Representative's Office.
He explained that the bulk of the sanctions will apply to goods imported from France, Germany, Spain and Britain "the four countries behind the illegal financial support provided to the European Aerospace Industries Group," according to the American side.

[rtl]The United States on Friday imposed additional tariffs on a wide range of goods imported from the European Union worth $ 7.5 billion.[/rtl]

[rtl]President Donald Trump's new offensive came despite European warnings of tariffs on her goods as well as European threats of retaliatory measures, Sky News reported.[/rtl]
[rtl]These tariffs came into effect at 0101 GMT, and include aircraft produced by Airbus, French wine and Scottish whiskey.[/rtl]
[rtl]French Economy Minister Bruno Lemerre warned on Thursday that if President Trump goes ahead with his plan to impose tariffs on European goods because of the Airbus row, it would have "tangible" consequences.[/rtl]
[rtl]"These decisions will have very negative consequences both economically and politically," Lemerre said after meeting US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin.[/rtl]
[rtl]The World Trade Organization has adopted Washington's long-held view that Airbus is receiving unfair government support that harms rival Boeing.[/rtl]
[rtl]Lemerre warned the United States against opening another front in its trade wars, with Washington already engaging in a costly fee battle with China.[/rtl]
[rtl]Lemerre is scheduled to meet with US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Friday afternoon and said he would again urge work to reach a negotiated settlement.[/rtl]
[rtl]The EU has vowed to respond with punitive charges, in conjunction with another WTO case against Boeing.[/rtl]
[rtl]"I think this will not be in the interest of the United States, it will not be in the interest of the EU, and of course will have negative consequences for global growth," Lemerre said.[/rtl]
[rtl]As the global economy slows, "I think our responsibility is to do our best to avoid this kind of conflict," he said.[/rtl]
