The leader of the opposition wisdom movement, Ammar al-Hakim, on Monday, to reduce the salaries of presidents, deputies and senior officials.
Hakim said in a statement received by Mawazine News: "We call on the legislative and executive authorities to work to reduce the salaries of presidents, ministers, deputies and senior officials to achieve social justice, which has long called for the Supreme Religious Authority to reassure the Iraqi street that there are serious steps to repair the crisis situation."
The call coincided hours after Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced that the salaries of the three presidencies and deputies would be cut in half.
The popular masses in Iraq decided to hold a major demonstration on Friday, 25 October, after the expiry of the deadline set by the Marjai to reveal those who carried out sniping operations against demonstrators and security forces.
