Al-Ghareeb: Muthanna Council demanded Abdul Mahdi to lay off 100,000 foreign workers in oil companies
The provincial council said on Monday that the local government has asked the prime minister to lay off 100,000 workers in oil companies of foreign nationalities and replace them with Iraqi workers from the central and southern regions.
Council member Ammar Al Gharib said in a press statement that this request was handed over to the committees sent by the Prime Minister to the province during the past days.
He pointed out that the layoffs of foreign workers will contribute to providing great job opportunities for the people of the southern provinces and will ease the popular anger.
He added that the other demand handed to those committees includes a reduction in the interest rate on financial loans from banks that burdened the citizen and state employees.
