Foreign: US statement represents a warning to lift support for the Iraqi government

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said in a press statement: "The recent US statement issued by the White House, as a lifting of support for the Iraqi government, and demanding its removal by calling for early elections."
He added: "Washington and other Western countries stand against the Iranian settlement or deal that ended with the survival of the current government, which may be a major reason for the US statement."
"The US side is in contact with President Barham Salih, who has become a conveyor of positions between Washington and the Mahdi government, which can be considered a precedent for US-Iraqi relations since the US invasion," the official said.
He concluded by saying: "The White House statement is more cautionary than giving part of the solutions, but so far there is no official position or response by Baghdad to the statement, which is under consideration by the competent authorities in this regard." .
