    Economy News _ Baghdad
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Protesters blocked the entrance to the port near Basra and prevented staff and trucks from entering, reducing operations by 50 percent, two sources at the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr said on Monday.
The sources added that if the siege continued until the afternoon, the operations would stop completely. The port entrances were closed from October 29 to November 9 with a brief resumption of operations between November 7 and 9.
The port of Umm Qasr, Iraq's main port on the Gulf, receives shipments of grain, vegetable oils and sugar to a country heavily dependent on food imports.
