Human Rights: Citizens are no substitute for law

The High Commissioner for Human Rights affirmed that citizens cannot be a substitute for the law, stating: "The security of demonstrators and arenas is the prerogative of the security forces."
"What happened in Al Wathba is a terrible incident that is very far from human values," said commission member Himin Bajlan in a press statement, stressing that no death or injury was reported in Al Wathba Square, other than the allegations.
Baglan added, "Citizens cannot substitute for the law, and it was more appropriate for the security forces to intervene to prevent the crime of Al Wathba."
And between: "The demonstrators and the squares are within the jurisdiction of the security forces, and everyone is awaiting the results of investigations regarding the crime of Al Wathba."
