Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi discussed with the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, the upcoming events related to the local elections.
A statement by Al-Maliki's office, of which Mawazine News received a copy, stated that "the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, received in his office this evening, Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, and during the meeting they discussed political and security developments in the country, as well as the upcoming events related to the local elections."
The head of the State of Law Coalition stressed, according to the statement, the importance of strengthening the oversight role and issuing laws that are in the interest of the citizen, especially the federal budget law in order to meet the demands of the Iraqi people, calling on the government to provide the appropriate atmosphere for holding local elections on time.
