Political affairs specialists pointed to the dwindling chances and opportunities of the civil forces in the upcoming elections compared to the previous voting seasons in 2018 and 2021, and while they pointed out the inability to read the map of the winning parties in the provincial council elections, they stressed that the civil forces cannot keep up with large parties and parties. It has a long history and legacy in electoral and political work.
The head of the Al-Sharq Center for Strategic Studies and Information, Ali Mahdi Al-Araji, said in an interview with Al-Sabah: “We are not talking about a stable political reality in order to know what the elections will lead to in the next stage. We have a street that has lost confidence in the political process with a lazy voter who is reluctant to vote.” Voting at election centers, and there are political forces boycotting and rejecting the general situation.”
He pointed out, "In light of all of this, it is very difficult to read the upcoming electoral reality, but it is possible that we can come up with an approaching idea by interrogating the political parties themselves. The civil forces have an audience, but it is not as large and influential as the other forces, given that most of them are parties." Ideological, that is, it has an audience that trusts and believes in its symbols and not in the political approach and text.” He stressed, “Therefore, we find that the chances of the civil forces are weak compared to others, and it is possible that they have small numbers in the provincial councils, but not in an effective way,” and added that “everything is possible in Iraq, as there is no law or fixed text that can be relied upon.” “In knowing the future of the general scene, because everything is changing and subject to innovations, contrary to what is happening in countries of the world with ancient democracies.” For his part, the head of the Iraq Center for Strategic Studies, Dr. Ghazi Faisal, said in an interview with Al-Sabah that “the political map today in Iraq is ambiguous, especially after the departure of the Sadrist movement, which constitutes an important weight within the framework of the Shiite parties, and the coordination framework He is seeking to strengthen his control over the Iraqi political scene, especially through the upcoming local elections, with the aim of obtaining almost absolute control over the subsequent legislative elections, and this means that the fortunes of parties, movements, and civil society organizations will decline.
He explained that "civil movements do not enjoy broad audiences because they do not have the opportunity to achieve gains for the popular masses, the unemployed, and the poor in informal cities. Although they have a program, at the present time they do not have the capabilities and capabilities to attract millions of people like other parties and parties. Therefore, I see that "Civil currents have little chance against parties that have great potential to attract voters."
