Siemens Energy Company announced today, Friday (January 19, 2024), its sponsorship of the energy conference that will be held by the Ministry of Electricity in Baghdad next month.
The company's director, Muhannad Al-Saffar, said in a statement received by Baghdad Today, "The annual energy conference, which will be held at the Baghdad International Fair, will last for three days."
He added, "In the conference, the company will review the projects that were implemented in Iraq, its upcoming plans, and all existing ideas that could contribute to helping build the energy sector in Iraq."
Al-Saffar stated, “The conference will involve Iraqi, regional and international companies specialized in the field of energy, to display their products and modern technology that can serve the energy sector in Iraq.”
In its session on Tuesday (October 24, 2023), the Council of Ministers decided, in order to complete the national network of production and distribution and the requirements for development and expansion, to approve the recommendation of the Ministerial Council for Energy (23077) regarding the principles of cooperation for a program in Iraq with the German company Siemens - the second phase, according to the following:
1. Authorizing the Ministry of Electricity to refer and sign a single contract to implement and prepare materials for secondary stations, voltage (400/132/11) kV, capacity (500 MW), number 3, no later than December 31, 2023, and including the rest of the allocations in 2024.
2. Authorizing the Ministry of Electricity to release the advance payment for the contract, amounting to (15%), which represents the Iraqi side’s commitment to projects financed through external loans, to activate the contract and for the company to begin manufacturing the equipment before signing the financing agreement.
