Independent politician Abbas al-Maliki warned, on Tuesday, of the US embassy’s plans to attract homosexuals in order to threaten Iraqi society and pass certain subversive policies, which prompted America and its ally Britain to reject the newly enacted anti-prostitution law.

Al-Maliki told Al-Maalouma, “The opposition of America and Britain to the anti-prostitution law comes because homosexuality is considered a tool to pass America’s policies in some countries, including Iraq.”
He added, "America and Britain sought to use gay men and women in Iraq for political purposes and to confuse the security situation in the country, as they worked to support this group financially and grant them passports or courses in some neighboring countries."
He stated that "the American embassy in Baghdad is considered a center for abnormalities and attracts those belonging to this category, as it provides them with their needs and works to transfer them to other countries and enter them into specific courses aimed at tearing apart society and passing subversive policies inside Iraq."
