Though they are handling both I think preserving the refinery is a preservation of the citizens on a more grand scale since it will affect a larger swath of the population. Isis is starving for money choking the financial  ability to wage war shortens the war. Just imagine how it would play in the media if Isis got the refinery...

The media are really cranking up the rhetoric regarding how much ground Isis are gaining. There seems to always be a reason behind this type of reporting. Maybe it's to drum up more support from more countries to stop their advance so the US doesn't shoulder all the pressure again. On the other hand, perhaps they are really running short on cash and need to show that they can still run as an army by achieving more gains.

I keep asking myself whether I would invest in a country that looked so unstable. These laws are all great for our little venture but the multinationals must be twitching watching the news these days. I'm so ready for this thing to pop, I'm so believing in its potential but this big fly in the ointment needs swatting, and fast.

I don't believe everything in the media.. They use it to keep us in shock or to manipulate us into thinking they (governments)  are doing the right thing with every situation.
