Moscow does not see the necessity to conduct trilateral gas talks between Russia, Ukrine, and the European Commission at the moment, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Saturday.MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The European Commission energy chief said that it supports a revision of the gas transit agreement between Russia and Ukraine after 2019 and hopes for a new deal based on European rules.
"All the rules of the game are clear before the end of the quarter, that's why there is no necessity to meet," Novak told reporters.

He added that Russia was still ready to meet representatives of the European Commission to discuss the situation on oil and gas markets.
On January 10, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Kiev would not buy gas from Russia at the suggested price of $212 per 1,000 cubic meters as it can buy it cheaper in Europe. Instead, Ukraine now receives reverse gas flows from the EU states, such as Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.
In October 2015, Ukraine's energy company Naftogaz said that the country was completing the purchase of gas from Gazprom, and a decision to continue to import gas from this supplier would depend on the price. The following month, Ukraine halted purchases of Russian gas, saying the pricing offered by its European partners was much lower than that offered by Moscow.
