    The UN Security Council issued a year (1993) Resolution No. (833) which provides for the demarcation of the border between Kuwait and Iraq, and extended towards the length (216 km), and led the implementation of Resolution partially under the previous regime to carve out large swaths of Iraqi territory and annex it to land Kuwait, which included land in terms of Safwan and Umm Qasr in the region has become since the mid-nineties the whole within the boundaries of the State of Kuwait.
