Secret Service investigates Beck for Trump 'threat'

Conservative radio host Glenn Beck got more feedback than he bargained for after making a comment about GOP front runner Donald Trump on his Friday radio show.
It was a visit to his Dallas studios by the U.S. Secret Service investigating a “threat” against Trump.
During the program Beck was discussing the 2016 presidential candidates with his producers, specifically news that the other candidates said they would back Trump if he became the party’s nominee.
Beck’s comment that he didn’t know what he would have done had he been sitting in the shoes of Trump’s rivals during Thursday’s debate drew a mocking response from producer Stu Burguiere, reported CBS.
“Was it gigantic shoes?”
It was Beck’s next response that has been construed as a threat against Trump, although Burguiere insists it was directed at himself and not at Trump.
“If I was close enough and I had a knife. Really. I mean the stabbing just wouldn’t stop,” said Beck.
It was widely reported that Beck had threatened Trump following a story by Daily Caller, which quickly spread across the Internet.
Mediaite, which initially picked up the story, later retracted it.
Burguiere later took to Facebook and posted, “It was reported that Glenn had threatened to stab a presidential candidate this morning which was odd since I was on the show with him and didn’t notice anything like that… Of course, if you were listening, you know that Glenn actually threatened me, not Donald Trump, so I am in the odd situation of defending my boss for threatening my life.”
In the past Beck, who has endorsed Ted Cruz, has called Trump a "bully" and a "psychopath." WND reported during the recent Nevada caucuses, Beck responded to Trump crashing an event where he was speaking by characterizing the billionaire's supporters as "brown shirts."
The U.S. Secret Service has been charged with protecting presidential and vice-presidential candidates or nominees since 1968, following the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. The Secret Service said it's doing a follow-up investigation because its agents protect Trump.
