“I thank God everyday that George W. Bush was our president on 9/11 and not Al Gore.”
- Senator Marco Rubio chastising Donald Trump's assertions at the last Republican debate
Last Saturday on the debate stage in South Carolina, presidential candidate Donald Trump adamantly stated during an altercation with fellow candidate Jeb Bush that no WMDs were found in Iraq. Saying that George W. Bush lied to to the American people in order to justify his going into Iraq, Trump went into a tirade of what amounts to nothing but far-left talking points and innuendos. But no matter the words said, the bottom line is that it was Donald Trump who lied not George W. Bush.
Now for a bit of history...Saddam Hussein never tried to hide the fact that he had chemical weapons...remember he openly used them against the Kurds for all the world to see. And Saddam had some of these weapons...including 2,500 sarin-filled 122mm rockets...stored at the Al-Muthana Complex...the very complex that coalition warplanes bombed on February 8, 1991, damaging or destroying the rockets stored there.
Also, as per a New York Times report from last year, between 2004 to 2011, both American and coalition troops found over 5,000 chemical weapons in Iraq...weapons that included warheads, shells, and 'aviation' bombs, and that on at least a half dozen occasions our troops were exposed to chemical weapons during 2003's Operation Iraqi Freedom. And know that these weapons were left over from Iraq's eight-year war with Iran in the 1980s... weapons that were not accounted for by UN inspectors after the 1991 Persian Gulf war.
And ignored by Trump is the fact that as Operation Iraqi Freedom came to an end, 400+ 122mm al-Borak warheads packed with sarin gas with a concentration of close to 25% purity were 'purchased' by CIA operatives through a secret Iraqi 'intermediary'...purchased to help assure that old chemical weapons remaining in Iraq did not fall into the hands of terrorists or militant anti-government forces. And with sarin being one of the most deadly of all nerve gasses...so deadly that just one to 10 milliliters on the skin is fatal...warheads with a concentration of up to 25% purity becomes lethal, and would indeed classify as a weapon of mass destruction.
And lest Trump forget that discovered in Iraq during the same above mentioned time period was first, a 152mm binary sarin artillery projectile containing a 40% concentration of sarin, which insurgents tried to use as an IED...an Improvised Explosive Device...and second, thousands of barrels of pre-cursor chemicals buried in camouflaged barrels labeled 'insecticide' were found near Iraqi military installations. And of special note here is that with the discovery of this one single binary weapon means there is always the possibility that more binary weapons...whose ingredients stay active longer than conventional chemical weapons...still exist undiscovered in Iraq today.
And why are binary chemical weapons so dangerous besides their having a long 'shelf life'...it's because the toxic agent in its 'active state' is not contained as a whole within the weapon, but instead is in the form of two chemical precursors, physically separated within said weapon, with the precursors designed to be less toxic than the agent as a whole...that is until they are mixed during launch. And this design, while just as deadly as a standard chemical weapon, allows for the weapon to be more easily transported...in other words more easily transported to high density population areas.
But Trump said there were no chemical weapons found in Iraq, so I guess since Trump claims he's always right about everything...there were none...tangible proof be damned.
During this same debate Donald Trump also blamed George W. Bush for 9/11 after Marco Rubio said that Bush had "kept us safe" on his watch. Those three words had Trump shooting back with, "How did he keep us safe when the World Trade Center came down?" adding that, "I lost hundreds of friends, the World Trade Center came down during the reign of George Bush...That is not safe, Marco, that is not safe." Well it seems that once again Donald Trump needs a bit of a history lesson as to who is the true cause of 9/11...and it is the very man whose permission he needed to run against Hillary...none other than Bubba himself...William Jefferson Clinton.
But first let's preface it with the undeniable fact that after 9/11 changed our country forever...and remember that 9/11 happened a mere eight months into the George W. Bush presidency...Bush's ensuing actions helped to improve security in these United States. And if you want proof just understand that there have been no attacks of 9/11's magnitude anywhere within our country's borders since then. And if truth be told Trump's blaming Bush for the attack and making it a pivotal part of the 2016 presidential primary campaign is just another move to try and cover for the fact that he, Donald Trump, knows absolutely nothing about national security or foreign policy issues. But hey, he's doing what he does best...he's calculatingly and deliberately dragging the level of political discourse down yet again, and the 'Trump-drunk' are lapping it up just like Obama's sheeple do every time Obama opens up his big lying mouth as well.
And so it seems that Donald Trump and Barack HUSSEIN Obama have yet another thing in common...they both have made lying into an art form, and sadly the uniformed and the misinformed could care less.
But now for that bit of a history lesson and hopefully Trump and his blind-following Trumpers might learn something. The events of September 11, 2001...the three almost simultaneous attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in a field in Pennsylvania...did indeed change our great nation forever, but they were events that could have been prevented if only previous Democratic President Bill Clinton had done his job as Commander-in-Chief and as steward of America's ship.
“The World Trade Center came down because Bill Clinton didn't kill Osama bin-Laden when he had the chance to kill him.” - more of Marco Rubio's words said during the last Republican debate.
And how right Rubio is for Bill Clinton had many opportunities to kill or capture Osama bin-Laden, but passed on opportunity after opportunity as each presented itself. In fact, 9/11 happened because al-Qaeda was allowed to grow stronger after each act of terrorism they committed went either unpunished or received just a slap on the wrist from the Clinton administration. Let's start with the 1993 World Trade Center bombing...a dry run for 9/11...that killed six innocent people and left one thousand injured. Clinton did not even have the attack 'officially' investigated until two years later after military investigators found that Osama bin-Laden had been in charge of said attack.
Now when you remember those facts, remember too that when the news broke about bin-Laden, the government of Sudan told Clinton they could “get bin-Laden” if he wanted to bring charges against him. But what did Clinton say...“Osama bin-Laden is not a threat to the United States,” thus knowingly and willing letting bin-Laden get away with murder. And who did he take action against instead of bin-Laden...in 1998...five years after the first WTC bombing...Bill Clinton bombed a Sudanese aspirin factory, which he claimed held chemical weapons but is a claim that has never proven to be true, killing hundreds of innocent factory workers. In other words, Bill Clinton made Sudan the fall guy to cover for his own lazier-faire attitude towards bin-Laden and al-Qaeda.
And al-Qaeda and bin-Laden were emboldened and grew stronger.
And lest we forget that after George H. Bush defeated Saddam Hussein in 1991, Clinton ordered UN officials to be stationed in Iraq to make sure that Saddam would be incapable of creating WMDs, but also remember that his orders were quickly rescinded when he told said UN officials to leave the country immediately, thus giving Saddam more than enough time to finish his chemical weapons building...which we now know he did.
Now for another chance Clinton missed to get bin-Laden occurred on August 7, 1998, when explosives hidden in a pickup truck wrecked the U.S. embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, while another bomb went off at the U.S. mission in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and did so almost at the same time. And what was Clinton's response to those acts of terror...acts that killed 224 innocent people amongst them 12 Americans and had 4000 others affected with non-life threatening injuries...not a damn thing even with those two bombings marking the birth of Osama bin-Laden's al-Qaeda as the premier global terrorist network. And while four men with ties to al-Qaeda and the Egyptian Islamic Jihad were convicted by a U.S. federal court for their role in the attacks and are serving life sentences, Bill Clinton had nothing to do with either their capture or trial, and has remained mum on the subject to this day.
And bin-Laden and al-Qaeda again got away with murder and grew even stronger.
And let's not forget that the bombing with military grade explosives of the Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Cole in Aden Harbour, Yemen, on October 12, 2000, killed 17 U.S. sailors and injured 39 others and that it too happened on Bill Clinton's watch, with Osama bin-Laden's al-Qaeda claiming responsibility for the attack. And what was Clinton's response, "If, as it now appears, this was an act of terrorism, it was a despicable and cowardly act. We will find out who was responsible and hold them accountable.” “If this was an attack of terrorism...” a US war ship is bombed and all Bubba can say is “If...” And while four Yemenis and two Egyptians were caught, tried, and convicted for the bombing by Yemeni courts...not U.S. courts as should have been the case...Osama bin-Laden was not one of them, and Bill Clinton's lack of a tangible response for the bombing can be thanked for that.
And so like twice before Osama bin-Laden and al-Qaeda again got away with murder, and thanks to Bill Clinton not George W. Bush, 9/11 was the ultimate outcome.
So while Donald Trump continues to have melt downs and whines ad-nausem about those who tell the truth about his poor debate performance last Saturday, and as he continues to spew lies about his fellow candidates and insinuates that everyone in the world...including past presidents...is a liar but him, paranoia has become the hallmark of Trump's nothing but reality show campaign. And those pesky little things know as facts prove it...much to Trump's and his Trumper's chagrin. So maybe now with Trump's lies exposed common sense will triumph over empty-suit bloviations...'We the People' can only hope so.
