BP and Shell are planning to double their production of oil and gas fields in southern Iraq

Two confirmed Naftytan British newspapers on Wednesday their intention to double their production of oil and gas from Iraq's southern fields.
The British minister of state for energy and climate change, Andrei Idesom, in remarks during the tenth oil conference on Iraq held in London now, according to the Web site reported Rkazhon Rigzone news specialist energy affairs, and I followed (range Press), "The British Petroleum, BP is trying to increase the production rate in the Rumaila oil field in southern Iraq to three times the current. "
For his part, Vice President of Shell and director of its branch in Iraq, Marcus Antonini, according to the site, about "the intention of the company drilled more wells in the Majnoon oil field in southern Iraq, to double production," adding that "Shell is also working to help the Basra Gas Company to reach a production of 700 million cubic feet of gas per day by the end of the current year, 2016, with expectations to reach one billion cubic feet per day in the future. "
The Oil Ministry has signed a contract in, (the 23 of November 2011), with the British Royal Dutch Shell, to address associated with oil in the southern fields of gas after the Cabinet approval (15 of November 2011), the establishment of Basra Gas Company, which will address associated gas from the oil fields of Rumaila, Zubair and West Qurna jointly owned South oil Ministry gas company by 51 percent and the two Royal Dutch Shell 44 percent and Japan's Mitsubishi 5 percent.
The Majnoon field, is one of the largest oil fields in the world, estimated reserves, according to the estimates of Iraqi government, estimated at 38 billion barrels.
