Ankara: Turkish fighter jets destroyed alleged PKK targets in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, a military source said Thursday, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported. According to the source warplanes killed a number of PKK militants in attacks from 2 p.m. local time (1100GMT) Wednesday in the Sinat-Haftanin region, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
[size=13]Iranian soldiers kill teenage Kolbar inside Iraq’s Kurdistan Region[/size]
Sulaimani: A number of Iranian soldiers opened fire at a group of Kurdish residents of Iraqi Kurdistan on Wednesday at the Shabadin border crossing, leaving one dead. The 19-year-old identified as Bishwan Mustafa, who was reportedly a Kurdish resident of the area, died from his injuries in a Sulaimani emergency hospital. The young man was shot by Iranian soldiers known as Pasdar. Speaking to reporters at the hospital, Mustafa’s family said, “At the Shabadin border crossing in Sharbazher, a number of Iranian Pasdar opened fire at several Kurdish residents who were transferring goods [Kolbars] to Iran, wounding our son [Mustafa].” Saeb Salam Khurshid, a spokesman from Sulaimani police, spoke with NRT saying, “Mustafa was a porter and he was wounded in a tent inside the territory of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. He died from injuries [caused by] bullets.” |

[size=13]Norway contributes with more than $10 million in stabilizing efforts in Iraq[/size]
Baghdad: Norway announced a contribution of $3 million US dollars in “financing the immediate stabilization fund” of the United Nations Development Programme, which provides rapid support to areas liberated from Islamic State (IS). A statement by the Norwegian Embassy, “said that this Norwegian contribution, has provided $10.7 million to the fund during the current year 2016”. The statement quoted the resident representative of the UNDP Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq, Lise Grande “that this contribution was able to assist in the repair of electrical networks, and youth employment, and the reopening of the shops, and the rehabilitation of public services and infrastructure.” |
