After two years of displacement following an Islamic State (IS or ISIL) attack in August 2014, approximately 360,000 Yazidis from Sinjar continue to be in desperate need of serious psychological care, according to a UN report. In one particular case, a witness cited in the report was “given as a gift to another Syrian man and later sold to a Tunisian ISIL member, then to a man from Saudi Arabia.” The report, titled “A Call for Accountability and Protection: Yazidi Survivors of Atrocities Committed by ISIL,” went on to emphasize the gravity of sexual abuse in the community.

Iraqi Shiite MP accuses Amnesty international of defending terrorists
Baghdad: Iraqi MP Hanan Fatlawi from the State of Law coalition suggested that the name of Amnesty International should be changed to ‘Violence International’, accusing the organization of defending terrorists. Fatlawi’s accusations were in response to the organization’s criticism directed at the Iraqi government for hanging 36 people involved in the Speicher Massacre. “I suggest the change of name from ‘Amnesty International’ to ‘Violence International’ because its duty is only to defend terrorists,” Fatlawi said in her statement on social media. On Sunday, the Iraqi government has executed 36 people for taking part in the Speicher Massacre by Islamic State (IS) militants. The massacre had taken place at Camp Speicher which was a former US base near Tikrit after the IS militants took control of the area in 2014 in which they killed as many as 1,700 soldiers.
