Energy Research: Alhqaya project will provide 12.5 million barrels of oil annually

(Encyclopedia of the Day News | Iraq News ) - Kuwait - directly: operations management director of the energy and construction research at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research Center, said the renewable energy project in Alhqaya area will provide about 12.5 million barrels of oil equivalent per year when the three phases is completed in 2030, according to Kuwait news Agency "KUNA".
He said Ahmed Al Mulla, in his speech at the seminar organized by the Department of Public Relations and Information of the Ministry of Oil, on Tuesday, that the total project cost of up to 4 billion dinars, pointing out that such a variable cost depending on the price change.
Al Mulla explained that the project will be able to produce 5848 megawatts of electricity annually, in addition to providing about 10 thousand jobs during implementation and construction, and about 1,000 job opportunities during the operation, according to "KUNA".
According to Director of Operations, that the total production Alhqaya compound after completion of the project will provide 3 to 4% of the annual energy consumption in Kuwait in 2030, pointing out that the first phase will be 70 MW at a cost of 125 million dinars, which is the cost of stations away from infrastructure and terminals and other buildings, as well as another 1980 MW.
Mulla pointed out that the cost of support provided by Kuwait for electricity in 2014 amounted to about 2.4 billion dinars on the basis of $ 100 as the price for a barrel of oil, adding that the subsidy bill now dropped to about 1.5 billion dinars on the basis of $ 40 per barrel of oil.
He continued: Kuwait consumes about 350 thousand barrels of oil per day, which represents 12% of the daily production in the electricity consumption at peak times, adding that the project aims to reach 6% instead of 12% in the future based on renewable and alternative energies.
