[ltr]Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Field reports on the first phase of the movement to liberate Mosul city began pouring, following Iraqi premier Haidar al-Ibadi's declaration of the start of the Mosul liberation operation.[/ltr]

[ltr]The first reports said that the Kurdish Peshmarga forces began heavy bombardments against Da'ish (ISIS) sites in areas like Ba'sheeqa, Hamdaniya and Bartalla with Katyousha rockets to facilitate the progress of the Iraqi regular forces.[/ltr]

[ltr]No official statements were published on the movements of the battle, but reports said that the Iraqi Defence Ministry sent more enforcements to the outskirts of Mosul city this day, while reconnaissance flights were conducted by the International Coalition.[/ltr]

[ltr]It is expected that the reconnaissance flights will lead to direct air attacks against Da'ish sites.[/ltr]

[ltr]On the other side, sources from inside Mosul city reported general alert on Da'ish ranks in the fronts facing the Iraqi and Peshmarga forces, while heavy black smoke is covering the city following the burning of fuel tanks and tires in a move to prevent the shelling of the International Coalitions air strikes.[/ltr]

[ltr]Earlier, the Iraqi government announced that it will liberate Mosul city before the end of this year.[/ltr]
Kurdish reports said that 4000 of its forces took part in three axes of the battle that started early today.

[ltr]The sources expected that Da'ish forces ranged between 10-15 thousand fighters in Mosul city.[/ltr]
On the other hand, Kurdish Peshmarga Ministry announced that it will not permit foreign troops to participate in the battle.

[ltr]Secretary General of the ministry  General Jabbar Yawar disclosed that the forces that will participate are the military divisions of 15 and 16, anti-terrorism forces, federal police, Nineveh police, the Popular Mobilization Forces and the tribal mobilization, in addition Peshmarga forces,  the international coalition and the forces that will build bridges over the river.[/ltr]

[ltr]On the participation of the Turkish forces, he added that "according to agreed plans, no foreign troops shall be permitted in the liberation battle of Mosul city".[/ltr]

[ltr]"Any unrecognizable force or inserted in the plans shall be bombed by the International Coalition, as unknown troops", he confirmed.[/ltr]

[ltr]Earlier, Premier Ibadi announced that the forces that will enter the city shall be the Iraqi army and police, but called the people in the city to cooperate with these forces.[/ltr]

[ltr]In a televised speech in the early hours of today, Monday, with military attire and accompanies by military commanders, he announced the start of the military operations to liberate Mosul city.[/ltr]

[ltr]Premier Ibadi disclose that there were attempts, during the past days, to hinder the start of the operation, pledging that this year, 2016, will be "the year to get rid of terrorism and Da'ish organization".[/ltr]

[ltr]In addition, the US envoy to the International Coalition Britt McGurk welcomed the start of the operation.[/ltr]

[ltr]On his Twitter account, he "hoped success to the Iraqi forces and proud to stand with the Iraqi forces in this historical operation".[/ltr]

[ltr]Inside the city, local sources reported that Da'ish forces called, through loud speakers, to withdraw from the left side of the city, under the pretext of the "appearance of hypocrisy in the Caliphate Land".[/ltr]

[ltr]The loud speakers described Mosul city as the "the city of hypocrisy", which was regarded as an excuse to flee the city, the sources added.[/ltr]

[ltr]Earlier reports said that Da'ish forces started partial withdrawing with their families before the start of today's operations.[/ltr]

[ltr]Da'ish forces controlled Mosul city since the mid of 2014.[/ltr]
