Which early-entry players made NBA opening day rosters?

The best time to assess early-entry decisions made by underclassmen isn’t once we see which players were selected and which weren’t on NBA draft night.
In reality, it’s not fair to pass judgment until the opening day of the NBA season after teams have made their final roster cuts.
Of the 51 Division I players who entered the NBA draft with college eligibility remaining last spring, 29 made an NBA roster on Monday. Among the most high-profile early-entry players who will begin their pro careers overseas or in the D-League are former Kansas guard Wayne Selden, former Texas guard Isaiah Taylor and ex-USC standouts Julian Jacobs and Nikola Jovanovic.
Three undrafted early-entry players showed enough promise in training camp to survive final cuts and make NBA rosters. Ex-LSU guard Tim Quarterman latched on with the Portland Trail Blazers, former Indiana swingman Troy Williams stuck with the Memphis Grizzlies and former UNLV guard Derrick Jones will get a chance with the Phoenix Suns.
The large number of early-entry prospects headed overseas or to the D-League reflects the fact that not every player took full advantage of college basketball’s revamped, more athlete-friendly draft-declaration process.
In an effort to reform the early-entry process and help players make more informed decisions, the NCAA pushed back the deadline for underclassmen to withdraw from the draft last spring until 10 days after the NBA draft combine. That meant testing the waters once again became a viable option for underclassmen who wanted to investigate their stock and work out for teams while still preserving the option of returning to school.
It’s worth noting that not every player who failed to make an NBA roster made an ill-advised decision leaving school early.
For example, ex-Stanford forward Rosco Allen already had earned his degree by the time he chose to turn pro after his redshirt junior season. Allen, a native of Budapest, recognized he was a long shot to be drafted by an NBA team yet felt very comfortable playing professionally in Europe if he were unable to earn a roster spot in training camp.
Below is a list of the 51 Division I players and eight non-Division I players who entered the NBA draft with college eligibility remaining and whether they made an NBA roster or not. Note that a handful were cut too recently by NBA teams to have revealed their future plans.
