Democratic Leader Tries To Trick Republicans, Ends Up Accidently Giving Away ENTIRE Control

His Attempted Trick Just Gave Republicans Complete Control
There are several instances in life that really bring the best out of people. They can include anything from watching a loved one get married, seeing someone else graduate college, or simply seeing someone achieve a dream they have been working towards their entire life.
It’s the same in politics. Nothing feels better to some people than watching a bill that they proposed get passed and initiated into law. And nothing feels better to Republicans than watching Democrats royally screw things up, especially when it works out into the favor of the Republicans.
We have just seen a prominent example of that this year. As we all know, Donald Trump won the presidency and now has the dubious task of setting his administration. And as part of that task, he has to seek the approval of Congress for each and every one of his appointments.
Trump Has To Fill His Cabinet, Which Isn’t A Small Task
That is where Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid comes into play. You see the Democrats have claimed that they are going to do whatever they can to make sure that anyone that Trump chooses for his cabinet isn’t approved unless the liberals like that. Thanks to Reid, that isn’t going to happen.
Back in 2013, Reid and several other Democrats went ahead with a rule change that was dubbed the “nuclear option.” What it did were eliminated filibusters for all presidential nominations, with the exception of Supreme Court Justices. As such, a simple majority of 51 votes instead of the usual 60 is needed to confirm executive office appointments.
Guess how many Senate seats the Republicans are set to have? You guessed it! They are set to have at the very least 51 Senate seats, but will have 52 thanks to a December Senate run-off race in Louisiana. Don’t you love it when a rule that was made by Democrats absolutely blows up in their face?
That also means that the oh-so valiant efforts of DISGRACED Democrat party members, such as Democratic National Committee interim chairwoman Donna Brazile, are not going to be heard. Despite the fact that the Democrats have called for the Senate to reject Trump’s nomination of Republican Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions as Attorney General, their rule change is going to make it so that he is confirmed by the simple majority.
Despite Her Plea Not To Appoint Sessions To Attorney General, Reid’s Rule Change Makes It In Vain
And yet, despite the fact that this rule change was THEIR idea, many Democrats have said that they stood by their decision. It’s honestly amazing seeing people mess up so bad and yet they continue to claim that nothing is wrong. In fact, it’s laughable at how pathetic they have become.
Senator Reid’s spokeswoman Kristen Orthman told The Washington Post, “Senator Reid has no regrets on invoking the nuclear option because of Republicans’ unprecedented obstruction.” She later added, “If Republicans want to go on record supporting radicals, that’s their decision and they will have to live with it.”
Reid wasn’t the only one that said they don’t regret the decision. Oregon Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley told CNN, I have absolutely no regret.” You can claim that you have no regrets whatsoever, but it still doesn’t mask the fact that you screwed up so bad that it is going to guarantee Trump gets his cabinet.
Incoming Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was one of the Democrats that were opposed to the 2013 rule change and he sounded bitter about it. He told The Washington Post, “I wanted 60 for Supreme Court and Cabinet, but I didn’t prevail.” He doesn’t sound happy about it at all, and that is what makes this so amazing!
It should also be noted that back in 2013, Republican Senators said that the rule change wouldn’t benefit the Democrats long-term. Those senators that were apart of that statement should start writing to the Democrats with an “I told you so” message.
At the time, Alabama Senator Richard Shelby said, “Democrats won’t be in power in perpetuity. This is a mistake – a big one for the long run. Maybe not for the short run. Short-term gains, but I think it changes the Senate tremendously in a bad way.” He is absolutely right in saying that this was a mistake.
But the Democrats have to live with that. And they can plead and beg as much as they want to try and get Trump’s cabinet appointments blocked, but it was their doing that we even got this far. And the fact that they are standing by it is making this victory even sweeter.
But this isn’t the first time that the Democrats have changed something or attempted to change something to make it better for them. After the election was called in favor of Donald Trump, Democrats were so distraught at the loss that they created a petition to change the Electoral College. Yes they were so bitter because of the loss that they wanted to change the outcome so it was in their favor.
Despite the fact that they lost in a fair election, the Democrats wanted to change the rules so that it would favor them. It really seems like they can’t handle anything that doesn’t go their way. But that is a liberal for you.
And it’s ALL liberals that are upset when things don’t go their way. That includes the top Democrat; President Obama. Congress just passed legislation that would allow them to review any of Obama’s last second executive orders and repeal them if they choose to do so. And you can guess that Obama wasn’t happy about that in the slightest.
Obama Wasn’t Happy With Congress’s Newest Decision
Share this article with your friends and family to show that a Democratic leader’s rule change three years ago is going to affect how Trump picks his cabinet. Instead of needing 60 votes, Trump just needs 51 votes. And that is exactly how many Senate seats the Republicans have.
Isn’t it amazing to see something that the Democrats pushed for work out in favor of the Republicans? And despite the fact that this is an embarrassment to them, they are standing by it. It’s always a great day to see a Democrat squirm and falter.
