    The Netherlands confirmed its desire todevelop economic and agricultural ties with the province of Wasit and get investment opportunities which, while suggesting the province of Wasit to manage it opened itsdoors early for international companies, expressing keenness to benefit from theexpertise of Dutch companies, especially in the agricultural field. This came during a joint press conference Ambassador of Kingdom of the Netherlands in Iraq, Jan and Tmans with the governor of Wasit province, theowner behind the valley, in the Office of the province, the center of the city of Kut (180 km southeast of Baghdad) and attended (range Press). 
    He and Tmans: " The visit of Wasit was the aim of the agricultural rapprochement with the province, particularly agriculture which calls for optimism existence of investment opportunities that companies can theDutch take advantage of them , " adding that " the Netherlands aspires to get encouraging investment opportunities in Wasit, especially in the agricultural field." 
    The ambassador added that " the meeting with the government of Wasit stressed the need to expedite theDutch companies to bid for the province to compete with global counterparts , " noting that " the Netherlands is following the development in Iraq areas . All of them ages, and is keen to leave their mark, especially in Wasit." 
    He and Tmans that " the Dutch government supported Iraq in its war against terrorism and want to bring security and peace to its lands interested in other aspects of life, the most important construction and reconstruction , which provides a large area for Dutch companies to find suitable investment opportunities." 
     For his part, the governor of Wasit owner behind the valley , said that " the province opened its doors to foreign companies since the early where there are dozens of them now, especially in the energy sector , " expressing his "keen to maintain the advantage of Dutch expertise in various fields in light of the great affinity between them and Wasit in the field of agriculture. " 
    The local government of Wasit has sought to establish a conference for reconstruction and investment tomaintain a special, in the middle of the Netherlands in June 2014, but was delayed because of thecircumstances experienced by the country at the time. 
    The return of the bilateral relationship between Iraq and the Netherlands in 1968 to have this relationship went through the stages of growth in subsequent periods and have seen remarkable developments of theestablishment of diplomatic relations and exchange diplomatic envoys leading to the establishment of relations at the ambassadorial level and the opening of the Embassy of each in the other 's country. 
    The diplomatic relations between Iraq and the Netherlands have cooled and the closure of the Dutch embassy in Baghdad in 1990 because of the invasion of Kuwait until the re - opened after 2003.
