Economic expert attributed the causes of low inflation for the month of June last to exit Iraq from Chapter VII after that lasted for more than two decades of sanctions which were imposed on Iraq in the wake of the former regime's invasion of Kuwait in August 1990

The report noted that the general index of consumer prices reached (140.9 percent) in the month of June 2013, a decline rate of 0.9 percent for Alshahralsabak, and increased by 2.3 percent compared with June 2012.

The statement said that the eradication of the inflation indices decline at department of food prices during the month of June 2013 rate of 2.9 percent compared to the previous month, due to lower prices in the Kurdistan region by 2.0 percent in the central region by 3.4 percent in the South by 2.9 percent. The main reason for the low prices of this section on the level of Iraq, due mainly to a decrease in the prices of vegetables and fruits. The prices of this section increased by 0.7 percent compared to prices in June 2012.

As for the subset of fuel (gasoline, oil and gas) have seen their prices decreased slightly during the month of June 2013 rate of 0.1 percent compared to the previous month, due to lower prices in the Kurdistan region by 0.7 percent in the central region by a slight amount of 0.1 percent, while prices rose in the South at a slight rate of 0.2 percent. The Department of record household furnishings and equipment increased by 0.4 percent in June compared to the previous month, due to higher prices in the Kurdistan region by 0.4 percent in the central region by 0.3 percent in the South by 0.6 percent. The prices of this section increased by 2.3 percent compared to prices in the month of June 2012.
