Nikkei Japanese stocks at the close of trading on Friday as sentiment found support in the rise of the dollar against the yen amid optimism the prospects for the US economy, but fears of protectionist policies adopted by US President Donald Trump limited the gains.
Overall, the benchmark Nikkei index 0.3 percent to close at 19,467.40 points and rose 1.7 percent over the week.
It rose broader TOPIX index 0.3 percent to 1549.25 points, and the progress Jah.ba.aks Nikkei-400 index by a similar margin to end the day at 13907.16 points
