NHL Weekend Betting Preview: Flames open as road underdogs

The Calgary Flames will be embarking on a three-game road trip in New Jersey on Friday when they battle the struggling Devils as slim +105 underdogs at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Flames opened February with a decisive 5-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday, marking the first time in four weeks they have claimed wins in consecutive games. Calgary has also picked up just one win over its past six road contests going into Friday night’s Flames vs. Devils betting matchup at the Prudential Center.

Despite their recent battles with consistency, the Flames remain in the thick of the Western Conference wild card hunt, and will take on a New Jersey squad that is winless on home ice in its past six contests.
However, Calgary has dropped two straight to the Devils, including a 2-1 loss at the Scotiabank Saddledome on January 13 as -229 home favourites.
The Edmonton Oilers are also in action on Friday, visiting Carolina in search of their first road win over the Hurricanes in almost three years.
The Oilers are winless in two after kicking off a three-game road trip with a 2-0 loss to the Nashville Predators as +120 underdogs, and have posted just four victories over the Hurricanes in 15 road dates since that franchise relocated from Hartford in 1997.
Both the Oilers and Flames return to the ice for Super Sunday matinees, with Edmonton clashing with the Montreal Canadiens, and Calgary taking on the New York Rangers.
The Canadiens are also in action on Saturday afternoon, gunning for their first win over the Washington Capitals in four meetings at Bell Centre. Montreal has picked up the victory in just three of its past six games overall at home, but maintains a hefty seven-point lead atop the Atlantic Division standings.
The Ottawa Senators ended a two-game slide with a 5-2 win in Tampa Bay as +130 road underdogs on Thursday night, and will visit the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
As well, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking for a third straight win at TD Garden when they take on the Boston Bruins on Saturday. The Bruins have surrendered 19 total goals over their past five outings.

Finally, the Vancouver Canucks host the Minnesota Wild later on Saturday, while the Winnipeg Jets close out a four-game road trip against the lowly Colorado Avalanche.
