Reports of His Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

More instances of Corey Perry's existance have been popping up lately. As many Ducks fans know, he was reported missing earlier this season. A Ducks player, wearing #10 scored a pair of goals Sunday night. This player looked remarkably like Perry. He was strong, aggressive and tough to defend. If it was indeed the real Corey Perry, his presence is greatly needed for the Ducks to succeed.

Seriously, the Ducks are a completely different team with a productive Perry. He doesn't need to be “The Messiah”, or even Anaheim's primary offensive weapon. What is needed from him is to be the 30ish per season goal scorer he has shown to be throughout his career. Perry would once again be the type of player opossing teams need to plan for. Additionally, the Ducks would have three effective lines who could win games for them.

    The Backstop's Backstop

Another Jeckyl and Hyde player coming through for the Ducks of late is backup goalie Jonathan Bernier. He isn't the guy that looked like a ptential all-star when he served as Johnathan Quick's backup in Los Angeles a few seasons ago. Nor is he the guy that got lit up in Toronto last year. What he is for the Ducks is a goalie good enough to keep them in the game he is playing. In his last dozen games (not including a 5+ minute relief appearance in Buffalo), dating back to January 14, he is 7-4-1 with a 2.30 GAA and .925 save %. More importantly, he has allowed three or less goals in 11 of those 12 games. What more can be asked of a #2 goalie?

    The Bosses Wife

A look at “Ek's PhD Wife's Final Projected Standings” place the Ducks second in the Pacific and fourth overall in the West with 104 points. I order to pull it off, they would need to take 20 points in their final 13 games. A doable feat, but it won't be easy considering 11 of those contests are against teams currently occupying a playoff position.

    St. Louis @ Ducks

The Ducks look for a little payback against St. Louis tonight at the Honda Center. Five nights ago in St. Louis, the Blues were able to take at least a point away from Anaheim with last half-minute goal. Things have changed a bit since then. The Ducks forwards are at full strength and the defense will be on a high after holding down Washington in their previous game. Jonathan Bernier continues to defend the Ducks' net while John Gibson remains out of the lineup. Its hard to imagine a lineup change after putting up five goals.
