Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi met Monday with US President Donald Trump in Washington and discussed cooperation between the two countries in the face of intimidation and terrorism.
US President Donald Trump welcomed Iraqi Prime Minister Dr. Haider al-Abbadi to the Oval Office today, stressing that US support for Iraq and its people is continuing in the common war waged by the two countries against terrorist gangs.
"The United States renewed its commitment to Iraq in a comprehensive partnership based on mutual respect in the light of the Iraq-US Strategic Framework Agreement, which sets the framework for cooperation in the political, economic and cultural fields," the statement said.
Trump was keen to host Prime Minister Abadi at the White House among the first heads of the world, valuing the role of Iraq and supporting the close relationship between the American and Iraqi people and the importance of the relationship between the two governments.
Prime Minister Abadi and President Trump praised the level of military cooperation between Iraq and the United States in the war against Da'ash and the military campaign to liberate Mosul.
"Despite the ferocity of the enemy, we are confident that it will be defeated as Iraqi forces continue to win their war against Saddam," he said.
The two leaders agreed that the long-term partnership between Iraq and the United States will continue to root out terrorism in Iraq and to strengthen Iraq's military and other important areas.
"In cooperation with our 68 member states of the International Coalition to Eliminate Struggle, the United States will continue to provide support and training to Iraqi forces to achieve decisive and lasting victory against terrorist gangs and reach their capabilities to an advanced level of capability and efficiency. The United Nations is an important pillar to support security in both countries. "
"Terrorism can not be completely defeated by military victory alone," the statement said. "The two presidents agree on the need to strengthen the partnership between the two countries to include the political and economic fields through the joint strategic framework agreement."
In the coming months, officials of the two countries will discuss steps to be taken to consolidate economic ties, encourage investment, expand prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, seek new opportunities and strengthen cooperation in education and culture.

The United States strongly supports Iraq's partnership with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank and will continue to coordinate with the Group of Seven (G7 ) to help Iraq achieve economic stability and implement the reforms it needs.
The United States also welcomes the efforts of the Prime Minister to promote a good governance that represents all Iraqis and to address the humanitarian disasters in the country caused by the brutality of a terrorist entity.
The Prime Minister and President Trump agreed on the need to develop and maintain positive relations between Iraq and neighboring countries in the region to promote stability in the Middle East and help Iraq build what was destroyed by a terrorist-supporting entity.
President Trump praised Iraq's efforts in building constructive relations with the countries of the region and the important role of these relations to enhance Iraq's ability to tackle terrorism in all its forms and not to allow any attempts to destabilize Iraq and undermine its democratic institutions.

President Donald Trump said the presence of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abbadi with us was a great honor, stressing that it might have been better for US forces not to leave Iraq at all
During the meeting, Trump confirmed US support for Iraq and its people in the common war waged by the two countries against Da'ash, according to a joint statement issued after the meeting.
The American president praised the role of Iraq, expressing his support for "the close relationship between the American and Iraqi people," and expressed the "importance of the relationship between the two governments."
He also affirmed the United States commitment to a comprehensive partnership with Iraq "based on mutual respect in light of the Iraq-US Strategic Framework Agreement".
"It might have been good for US forces not to leave Iraq at all," Trump said, noting that "Mosul was in our hands until US troops left Iraq."
"We have not yet been able to understand why Obama signed the nuclear agreement with Iran," he said.
The two leaders hailed the "level of outstanding military cooperation" between Iraq and the United States in the war against Da'ash, and agreed to continue the long-term bilateral partnership to root out terrorism in Iraq.
"We aspire to increase cooperation with Washington in the light of the strategic cooperation agreement," Abadi said.

Abadi: Trump recognizes the importance of the role of Iraq and US support will accelerate

Political From 2017-03-21 at 01:30 (Baghdad time)

    Baghdad Mawazine News
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Monday he had received assurances during talks with US President Donald Trump and his administration to increase US support as Iraq continues to crack down on the Islamic state.
"We have received assurances that (American) support will not only continue, but will accelerate for Iraq to accomplish the task," Abadi said after talks with Trump at the White House.
"The current US administration wants to be more involved in the fight against terrorism" than the previous administration, in an address to the United States Institute of Peace.
He pointed out that increasing involvement in the fight against terrorism does not mean an increase in American forces operating in Iraq, because the American public opinion and "elsewhere" do not wish to.
"This administration and this president are aware of the importance of Iraq and the role it plays in the region," he said. "We have been assured that US support for Iraq will accelerate" for Iraq to achieve stability.
    Call for "no deviation"
After confirming that Iraq is succeeding in liberating its land and proves that it can be eliminated, he pointed out that there is a problem that "some countries consider terrorism to be terrorism when it is against it while it sees it from a different perspective when it is not against it."
He called on everyone "not to deviate from a confrontational confrontation and not to be preoccupied with other things."
He called on the regional countries not to use terrorist organizations to gain gains in their conflicts, considering that it is this use that led to the emergence of an advocate.
    Challenge democracy
The Iraqi prime minister said that building a better Iraq can only be done by listening to the views of opponents.
He said that the Iraqi government should be responsible for all people "regardless of their beliefs" and demonstrate that in dealing with citizens.
"We are not saying that we succeeded but we have laid out broad guidelines," he said.
"It would be a sad day if the people think that dictatorship is better than democracy," he said.
He pointed out that in the absence of protection and in the case of non-fight against corruption, "we have failed."
    Plan for the conductor
As for Iraq's plan for Mosul after its liberation, Abadi said, "We must win people to our ranks."
"We need more funding to stabilize and prosper in Mosul, and if we prove to people that their situation after the liberation of their areas will be better than stability and economic conditions, we have succeeded," he said.
He criticized some Iraqi politicians who refuse to be separated between political action and armed action, stressing that "when you are political and bear arms, it means that you will use weapons in politics."
As for dealing with the popular crowd after the liberation of the entire Iraqi territory, Daqash said that they should not be told "thank you and return to your homes" simply so as not to think that the country can not sacrifice them.
He said those who wished to join the Popular Army would join Iraqi forces and disarm those who did not want to join the army.
