International recommendations to extend production cuts 6 months

    Baghdad - Mawazine News
A joint ministerial committee of OPEC and non-OPEC oil producers on Sunday recommended in a press release the extension of the agreement to cut world oil production by six months.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and 11 other major oil producers, including Russia, agreed in December to cut their total production by about 1.8 million bpd in the first half of the year.
"The Commission expressed its satisfaction with the progress made towards full compliance with voluntary production adjustments and urged all participating countries to move forward towards full commitment," the statement said.
The December agreement, aimed at supporting the oil market, lifted crude prices to more than $ 50 a barrel. But the price increase encouraged US rock producers not involved in the agreement to increase production. "
"It is aware that certain factors such as low seasonal demand, maintenance of refineries and increased non-OPEC supply have led to an increase in crude oil inventories," the committee said.
"But the end of the refinery maintenance season and the marked slowdown in US inventories as well as the decline in floating storage will support the positive efforts to stabilize the market," she said.
Oil Minister Jabbar Ali al-Allaibi told reporters ahead of the meeting that there were some encouraging factors that suggest that the oil market is improving and that Iraq will support any steps to bring stability to the price if agreed by all OPEC members.
