Kuwait's criminal court on Sunday sentenced Dashti to three years in prison for his Twitter tweets on the back of Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz's visit to Kuwait, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas reported.
The newspaper said that "the new ruling was issued against Dashti, after being convicted of insulting King Salman bin Abdul Aziz on Twitter, during the visit of the Saudi monarch to Kuwait a few months ago.
Dashti, who has already been stripped of parliamentary immunity, has known his pro-Iranian and Syrian-led positions under President Bashar al-Assad, as well as harsh criticism of the ruling families in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Dashti also criticized his country's participation in the Saudi-led Arab alliance against the Huthis in Yemen.
Dashti was previously convicted of insulting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, as well as his condemnation of Kuwait's diplomatic relations with the two kingdoms.
On the other hand, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai reported that the Kuwaiti Criminal Court condemned three imams of Syrian mosques affiliated with the Ministry of Awqaf with the support of al-Qaeda in Syria and imprisoned them for 3 years and fined them $ 14,000 to collect financial donations for the Nasra Front.
