A member of the Presidium of the House of Representatives Sheikh Hammam Hamoudi on Wednesday called on Arab parliaments to play a greater role in resolving conflicts in the region.
"Hamoudi met on the sidelines of the Dhaka meetings today, Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament and member of the executive office of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Ali Abdel-Aal," a statement by the deputy speaker of parliament said in a statement received by Mawazine News.
Sheikh Hamoudi called on Arab parliaments to "play a bigger and broader role in adopting peaceful solutions to resolve the conflicts in the region." He called on the Arab parliaments to continue "uniting efforts regardless of previous positions, Intellectually and militarily. "
Abdel-Al said that he was seeking "to activate the executive office's functions on behalf of the Arab Group in line with the aspirations of the Arab parliaments and the interests of its people."
"The dialogue is the basis for reaching the common denominators towards the stability of our peoples," he said, adding that "Iraq is the dam of the Arab nation and from which we derive our strength."
