The United States, Britain and France on Wednesday circulated to members of the UN Security Council a draft resolution on the chemical attack in Idlib on Tuesday, calling on the Syrian government to provide the United Nations with full information on all its air operations.
The resolution included "all aviation plans or flight records deposited on 4 April 2017, as well as the names of all personnel leading any squadron of helicopters, and immediate access to the relevant air bases which the United Nations / Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Have launched attacks involving chemicals as weapons. "
He referred to "the previous Security Council resolutions that requested the Syrian regime to cooperate fully with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the United Nations, including the Joint Investigation Mechanism.
The draft resolution condemned in the strongest terms "the use of chemical weapons in Syria, in particular the attack on Khan Sheikun on 4 April 2017."
He expressed his "anger at the continued killing and injury of individuals as a result of the use of chemical weapons in Syria, and determination to hold those responsible responsible," and stressed that "the use of chemical weapons in Syria is a threat to international peace and security."
More than 100 civilians were killed and more than 500, most of them children, were suffocated in a chemical weapons attack by the regime's aircraft on the town of Khan Sheikhan in rural Idlib amid widespread international condemnation.
