A senior US official said Friday that the United States is assessing its military options to respond to the continuation of North Korea's weapons program.
"Military options are already being studied," said a White House foreign policy adviser, who asked not to be identified.
After seeing a new test - nuclear or ballistic missile launch - "possible," the official said that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un "continue with regret, and this does not surprise us, and develop its program and continue to launch rockets in the Sea of Japan."
"With this system the question is not whether it will happen, but when."
"The intelligence services certainly know the president and the vice president," he said.
US President Donald Trump warned Pyongyang again on Thursday that "North Korea is a problem, and the problem will be addressed."
Trump's remarks coincided with information about a nuclear test site in North Korea before the 105th anniversary of founder Kim Il-sung's birth.
