BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A terrorist in an organization linked to the deadly attack in 2015 on the French weekly Charlie Hebdo may be alive, the Iraqi army said on Saturday.
US officials said Bukker al-Hakim was killed in November in a US air strike by a drone in Raqqa, a stronghold of Syria.
An Iraqi military statement said that the Iraqi intelligence provided the Syrian Air Force with information for the purpose of launching attacks on the headquarters and hiding places in Syria, including information believed to be private Hakim.
The statement added that the Syrian air force targeted several sites in Raqqa and Bu Kamal near the Iraqi border, but did not refer to the headquarters of the wise or the history of strikes.
An Iraqi military spokesman said Hakim's headquarters had been destroyed but it was not known if he had been killed.
Iraq and Syria formed in 2015 a joint commission with Russia and Iran as the two main backers of Assad to share intelligence on a hasty organization.
Hakim is believed to have participated in planning the attack on the satirical French newspaper in January 2015.
Two terrorists had stormed the newspaper's editorial meeting and Amatra, who were shot dead, killing 17 people.
A policeman was later shot dead by a third militant who was taken hostage in a shop that killed four of them before police could kill him.
