During the late hours of April 17th, something hurled a plume of hot gas over the eastern limb of the sun. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory photographed the splash: The source of this activity is probably returning sunspot AR2644. In early April the active region produced a series of M-class solar flares and shortwave radio blackouts. Now, following a two week trip around the farside of the sun, AR2644 is due to return. If it returns with any of its old potency, solar flare activity could increase sharply in the days ahead, reports Spaceweather.com.

At the beginning of April Sunspot AR2645 grew from nothing into a sprawling behemoth more than 120,000 km wide, with multiple dark cores larger than Earth.
Sunspot AR2645 woke up our star from a deep slumber and delivered six M-class solar flares in the first three days of April: It is still almost 2 years since she fired off an X-class flare however.

As two massive Coronal Holes cover the Earth facing part of the Sun and thought to be the main quake and volcano activity factor there is still no sign of major quakes and the first 4 months of 2017 have recorded the lowest amount of major quakes in nearly 60 years with a meager 22 so far this year.
However Costa Rica's Turrialba volcano and Poas volcano have erupted and a volcano on Manam Island in Bogia, Madang Papua New Guinea erupted on Sunday

Spaceweather reports: Solar wind flowing from the indicated coronal hole should reach Earth on April 18-19. Credit: NASA/SDO. solar wind stream expected to reach Earth yesterday is still en route.
NOAA forecasters say there is a 55% chance of polar geomagnetic storms on April 18th when the tardy stream arrives.
The solar wind is flowing from a large hole in the sun's atmosphere, and could influence our planet for 2 to 3 days.
Stay tuned for more Space updates.

Turrialba volcano has recorded an eruption, in which an ash and vapor column spewed forth nearly 500 meters (1,640 feet) above the crater, according to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI).
The activity is still active and the gusts of winds blow southward, according to OVSICORI, which reported that the eruption began at 07:51, local time and that it has been inactive for over a week.
In addition, some OVSICORI experts have today warned about , one of the most active in Costa Rica, and recorded an increase in seismic activity with a variable tremor at 20:22, local time, on Sunday.
Thus, both volcanoes have been recording frequent eruptions, some of them of great magnitude as the one on Friday, when the column of rocks, ash and vapors spewed forth four kilometers.

Last week a large group of tourists had to be evacuated today from the Poas Volcano Costa Rica due to the increase in the gases emanating from the volcano.

The volcano on Manam Island in Bogia, Madang in Papua New Guinea has, erupted on Sunday evening, forcing many who had moved back there fleeing for safety, the local newspaper reports.
Paul Maburau, the ward councillor for Dugulava village on the island, said they saw flames coming out at around 7pm when many villagers were preparing to have dinner.
He said fire was coming out of both craters of the volcano - the one between Bokure village and Kualang village, and the one between Dugulava and Warisi villages.
Maburau said more blasts came during the night and continued through yesterday.
"Every time there was a blast, the ground would shake," he said.
"The place is very dark with the smoke from the volcano.
"We are taking refuge where we think is safe."
He said some had left the island on the three available dinghies at Dugulava.
"Many of us left behind are now confused and scared of what will happen next," Maburau said.
The provincial disaster office confirmed receiving the report from the island and would make plans to assess the situation today and assist the people.
Manam Island is about 16km northeast of Bogia. Maburau said the people needed to be evacuated but fuel was the problem.
People from seven village in Giri confirmed seeing fire and smoke from Manam Island.
"The volcano is now giving off dust and soon all our gardens will be spoiled," Maburau said.
"This is my biggest fear because we will starve again."
It is one of Papua New Guinea's most active volcanoes.
A series of eruptions began at Manam in November and December 2004 It forced mass evacuations. A pyroclastic flow from the volcano on December 3, 1996, killed 13 people in the village of Budua.

The continuing heat wave condition in Telangana has claimed over 21 lives in the state over the past week.
People have succumbed to heat strokes in Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Warangal and Sangareddy districts as humidity dipped to 13%.
Mercury soared to 45 degrees Celsius in the coal mining areas of Kothagudem and Mancherial. Barring a few places in the southern parts closer to Andhra Pradesh, most of Telangana sizzled above 40 degrees, severely affecting life in the areas.
Hyderabad scorched at 43 degrees, the highest since April 14, 2016.
Many stayed indoors, fearing a heat stroke, leaving streets empty by mid-day.
State transport busses and shared autos soldiered on in their effort to ferry people from the Secunderabad railway station and other localities.
The mercury level also touched a new high of 43 degrees in Adilabad and Nizamabad. Nalgonda smouldered at 41 degrees, while Karimnagar and Bhadrachalam seared at 40 degrees.
Director of the weather office Dr Nagarathnam said heat wave conditions would continue over the next 48 hours.
"A weather system over the east-central Bay of Bengal is sapping the available moisture in the air, which generally keeps the weather cool on land mass," she said.
In Andhra Pradesh, Kurnool in Rayalaseema sizzled at 42 degrees, while Tirupati reeled under a harrowing 42 degrees.

Mysterious Biological Hazard Killing Hundreds Of Animals In Kenya!

Vets have ruled out an anthrax outbreak in Laikipia County, where a suspected zoonotic disease has killed wild animals.
Hundreds of wild animals, among them buffaloes, impalas and other herbivores, have died in conservancies and ranches in the last two weeks.
Conservancy owners believe the disease must have been brought in and circulated across the expansive ranches and conservancies by animals belonging to illegal herders who invaded their farms starting mid-2016.
"We have no reason not to believe that the disease was brought in by the herders," said Josh Perrett, a manager at the 50,000-acre Mugie Conservancy.
Last week, local and foreign veterinary officers carried out post-mortems on a number of animals to ascertain the real cause of the deaths.
Dr Mathew Mutinda, the regional Kenya Wildlife Service vet who worked with local livestock veterinary officers, said the results will be out early this week.
He said the team conducted post-mortems on 10 animals - five buffaloes, four impalas and one cow. The post-mortems were conducted on fresh carcasses in order to get accurate results on the causes of the deaths.
Carcasses examined had common heavy tick infestation, frothy lungs, constipated pellet-like faeces and petechial haemorrhages in the spleen.
A preliminary report by the Mountain Region Mobile Veterinary Unit seen by the Nation shows that the animals were dying of a disease of a tick-transmitted blood-borne pathogen.
"The veracity of the infection and deaths suggest either wildlife is naive to the pathogen or a very high dose of infection," the report reads.
The last anthrax outbreak in the country was in early 2016 at the Lake Nakuru National Park that killed a large number of buffaloes, rhinos and antelopes.
Clinical symptoms of anthrax include bloody diarrhoea, mouth sores, bright staring eyes, dejection and loss of appetite.
None of the animals at the Mugie Conservancy exhibited the signs.
The report was compiled by Stephanie Hauver of Cornell University, Dr Steve Ngulu of Ol Pejeta, Dr Mwai, the Laikipia East veterinary officer, and Dr Mathew Mutinda of KWS.
The report notes that competition for water and pasture between domestic and wild animals has worsened the situation.
Dams in the region have dried up and animals are forced to drink from a central point.
"The low plane of nutrition and the consequent poor health may have exacerbated the situation," adds the report dated April 13.
In a phone interview, Dr Mutinda expressed fears that the disease could spread further and kill more animals outside the conservancies as illegal herders are flushed out.
Since July 2016, herders have invaded Mugie Conservancy, Laikipia Nature Conservancy, ADC Mutara, Lambara, Ol Maisor, Suyian and Sosian.
The herders brought in over 500,000 cattle after they migrated to Laikipia North and Laikipia West from as far away as Pokot, Samburu, Baringo, Isiolo and Elgeyo-Marakwet counties.
The conservancies and ranches are home to various endangered species, including almost half of Kenya's black rhino population.
"In Laikipia, we have the Grevy's zebra, rhinos, Jackson's hartebeest, the reticulated giraffe and wild dogs," said Mr Perrett, the Mugie Conservancy manager.
Mohamed Abkul, the security manager at 30,000-acre Ol Maisor Ranch, said no deaths had been reported on the ranch.
"We have restricted movement across the ranch, as heavily armed Pokot herders are still on the farm. We have been forced to transfer our beef cattle to safer places such as Nakuru," Mr Abkul said.

He said the transfer was a precautionary measure against raids by bandits and disease infestation. Maria Dodds, the manager of Kifuku Borans Cattle Ranch, said she had scaled up disease surveillance on her ranch with routine check-ups by veterinary officers from Rumuruti.

The weather across most of Sweden has been unseasonably cold - and it's not going to get any better any time soon.
Easter Sunday saw temperatures plummet to around a teeth-chattering -20C in the far northern Norrland.
And the Mercury is still misbehaving in the far south too.
In the capital, Stockholm, Monday will see a high of 2C (and a low of -2C), with temperatures to sink as low as -4C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Gothenburg will be similarly cold this week, reaching lows of -2C, and even Malmo in the south will hit subzero temperatures on Wednesday.
"A cold front is going to keep pushing through the country this week, and will even hang around at the beginning of next week," Lovisa Andersson, meteorologist at Swedish weather agency SMHI, told the TT news agency.
Southern reaches of Sweden can expect some light relief on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures expected to hit up to around 10C, she added.
The long weekend, for the most part, has been a chilly one.
Southern Sweden saw unseasonably cold temperatures, with up to 10cm of snow in northern Skane, Blekinge, Kronoberg, Halland and Kalmar.
In orebro, the mercury dropped to -14C, making it the coldest April night since 1944, according to P4 orebro.
In Karlstad, SMHI said temperatures reached -9C, meaning it was the coldest night of April since 1985.
In Floda, Sodermanland, things were even colder, reaching -17C. That was the coldest night measured since the local weather monitoring station was set up in 1995.
"It's over 20 years old now, so we can say it's remarkable that it was so cold," Alexandra Ohlsson, a meteorologist at SMHI, told Swedish newswire TT.
It's possible for temperatures to fall below -10C in southern Sweden during spring nights, but it's unusual.
In Gotaland, since the start of the 2000s, the mercury has only slipped below the -10C mark four times.

There have been multiple reports of a meteorite and houses shaking in southern Queensland. Residents from the Sunshine Coast down to the Gold Coast reported seeing a large, bright object fall from the sky at about 6pm Sunday.
Shortly after that social media lit up with reports of a "big bang" being heard in Killarney.
Footage taken from Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast shows the bright object heading towards the Great Dividing Range before disappearing. Motorists on the Sunshine Coast also reported seeing the object from the Bruce Highway near Caboolture.
But it was reports of a house-shaking thud in Killarney that really got social media buzzing.
Brigitte Jones said, "I felt it out here, the house shook." Madeline Wilkins posted "I'm in Toowoomba and saw a burning light in the sky maybe a meteorite, heading that direction just before I saw this post ... Maybe related?"
Killarney resident Krissy Bloomfield said, "On Brosnan Rd kids saw what we thought shooting star just before the bang."
Some residents reported thinking the noise was thunder or fireworks.
Louise Reed from the Queen Mary Falls Caravan Park posted, "We heard it up here too.
It looked like a shooting star right before it and then bang."
And this from Krystal N Lillee Cook: "We heard it in oak street ... was really loud like a big crack of thunder."
