    TEHRAN: Iran's Interior Ministry decided Thursday to ban debates between presidential candidates directly on state television, saying the debates would be recorded and broadcast later.

    "The debates between the candidates will not be broadcast live, but will be recorded," Interior Ministry spokesman and electoral commissioner Salman Samani said.

    In a related context, official media quoted private sources that President Hassan Rowhani ordered to prevent the establishment of direct debates.

    The candidate of the hardline fundamentalist Ali Reza Zakani said that preventing direct debates between the presidential candidates on the air bias in favor of the government of President Hassan Rowhani and the candidates who support him.

    Iran's Guardian Council has announced that it may end the study of candidates for the presidency to determine their validity on Friday, adding that the five days to review the eligibility of candidates for the next presidential election will end today, after it began on 12 April.

    According to the presidential election schedule, the names of the candidates will be announced on 26 and 27 April by the Ministry of the Interior. The campaign will start from 28 April to 17 May, In the stage of electoral silence on the 18th of next month, in preparation for the start of the process of taking the votes on the 19 of May
