US oil inventories rise 897 thousand barrels

Data from the American Petroleum Institute showed that commercial oil stocks in the United States recorded an unexpected increase last week.
The data indicated that crude stocks rose by 897 thousand barrels in the week ending April 21 to reach 532.5 million barrels, while analysts' forecasts indicate a decrease of 1.7 million barrels.
The Petroleum Institute said oil stocks in the futures delivery point in Cushing, Oklahoma fell two million barrels.
API data showed that gasoline stocks jumped 4.4 million barrels last week, contrary to analysts' forecasts in a Reuters poll, which was referring to a reduction of one million barrels.
It fell distillate, which includes diesel and heating oil stocks, by 36 thousand barrels while it was expected to fall one million barrels.
It increased US imports of crude oil last week by 384 thousand barrels per day to reach 8.2 million barrels per day. Finished / 25
