Marines Reveal Plan To Unleash Vicious New Weapon Right Out Of Star Trek

One of the most terrifying moments that any warrior will ever face is when they have to “storm the beaches.” When this happened in Normandy, the death toll for U.S. troops was staggering. Waves of brave soldiers were mowed down with gunfire as they advanced onto the shore and those who suffered through it tell tales too morbid to imagine. Well, it seems that with new technology comes a new hope that such scenes need not repeat.
Today, according to Fox News, the U.S. Marines are testing “machine-gun-toting robots that charge up the beaches as advance assault” and “speedboats” which transform “into small stealthy submarines diving beneath the surface to avoid detection.” It appears that Transformers and killer robots are not just things found within the context of science fiction movies any longer.
The Ship-to-Shore Maneuver Exploration and Experimentation Advanced Naval Technology Exercise has been testing over 50 new technologies that would assist in times when getting troops from sea to land (or vice versa) means bloodshed and casualties. The Marines are said to be testing “amphibious vehicles, but also drones like quadcopters and potentially weapon-wielding ground robots.”

This is a robot Transformer that, just like the movie, is a robot that can turn from one machine into another.
These new means of warfare are being sought out since not only is the world dancing precariously close to war in a great number of areas, but surprising anyone with a Normandy style attack in 2017 is simply not going to happen. Technology has come too far for that to ever work again.
These new ways will save a lot of our bravest men and women, so in that aspect, this is wonderful news. Still, the question shall remain as to whether this is a good idea for those within the U.S. With so many tanks and military weapons being given to police to use against the population, many fear that in time, these weapons could to be used on the population. Posse Comitatus laws are supposed to protect the population from military style weapons and robots keeping the population “in check.” Then again, that kind of thing only happens in science fiction novels, right?
