    Today, the United Nations announced Friday the arrival of about seven thousand Syrian refugees to Kurdistan after opening border crossing Vichabour, between the province and Syria.

    She said the UN agency said in a statement today that "thousands of Syrian refugees arrived on Thursday to Kurdistan via pontoon bridge erected recently on the Tigris River," noting that "the first group of refugees, the number of its members, 750 refugees crossed the bridge Vichabour on the Tigris River followed by a second set from 5 thousand to 7 thousand refugees. "

    A spokesman for UNHCR, the UN Adrian Edwards told a news briefing that "thousands of Syrians have crossed the border into northern Iraq yesterday in a move that huge and sudden," noting that "most of the refugees from the women and children and the elderly regions of Aleppo and Hasakah and elsewhere."
