    King Abdullah II on Thursday held talks with President Fuad Masoum on the historical relations between the two countries and the latest developments on the Iraqi arena, in addition to current regional issues.
    During the bilateral talks, which were held at the Husseiniya Palace and attended by senior officials of the two countries, they stressed the strong relations between Jordan and Iraq and the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between them in all fields, especially political, economic and security. Concrete in economic cooperation.
    King Abdullah stressed that "Jordan and Iraq stand in the same trench against the threat of terrorism." His Majesty stressed that Jordan's interests in Iraq are in its unity, stability and prosperity, in order to support its Arab nation and constitute a cornerstone for security and stability in the region.
    During the talks, the two leaders stressed "the importance of securing the border ports and the international road connecting the two countries, in addition to accelerating the implementation of the pipeline from the Iraqi city of Basra to the port of Aqaba."
    In this regard, the Iraqi president stressed that the oil and gas pipeline is strategic and important for Iraq and Jordan, pointing out that work is intensively underway to open the international road, as a priority for his country.
    During the talks, they reviewed the military progress made by the Iraqi government in combating the Da'ash terrorist gang, in addition to efforts to achieve national reconciliation with the participation of all components of the Iraqi people.
    In this context, President Masoum reviewed what has been accomplished on the ground from defeating the terrorist gang and liberating the areas it controlled, stressing that all the Iraqi factions are working together to achieve this goal.
    The importance of intensifying cooperation and efforts, both regionally and internationally, to combat terrorism was emphasized, and it required continued coordination and consultation among the various parties involved and within a comprehensive strategy.
    President Masoum, who will participate in the meetings of the World Economic Forum, which will be held in the Dead Sea area, stressed that Iraq is an extension and support for its Arab nation. He called on the Arab brothers to stand by him and support him, appreciating the role of Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty the King. To maintain its unity and stability, and to fight terrorist gangs, as well as what Jordan offers to the Iraqi community.
    The talks also dealt with the current regional developments and the need to reach political solutions to the crises taking place in the region.
    The talks were attended by the President of the Royal Court, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, the Director of the General Intelligence, the Director of the King's Office, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
    The Iraqi Minister of Higher Education, the Acting Minister of Finance, the Minister of Planning, the Iraqi Ambassador in Amman and a number of senior officials.
