Islamic State continues its violent attack on Salamiyah

Hama (SyriaNews.media) Violent clashes continued between Syrian government forces and the Islamic State group in the northern countryside of al-Salamiyah, due to the ongoing attacks of the terrorist group on the headquarters of the regime forces in al- Mabujah and Aqarib villages, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Thursday.

The observatory revealed that the Islamic State group launched a violent attack on the villages of al-Mabujah and Aqarib, located 15 km away from al-Salamiyah city, while Syrian government forces are trying to retake the locations they lost near the two villages.

The clashes also coincided with a shelling by regime forces on the headquarters of the Islamic State in the area, allowing security forces to captures some of the headquarters and forcing the militants to flee.

Meanwhile, three blasts hit the city of Salamiyah, in addition to several air strikes conducted by army warplanes, resulting in the killing of 9 security members and 15 members of the Islamic State, as well as wounding 20 others.

Noteworthy, al-Mabujah village suffered a similar attack in April 2015, where the Islamic State group executed 46 Sunni, Alawi, and Ismaili civilians, including 10 children.
