An explosion occurred Monday night at a concert by American singer Ariana Grandi in Manchester, northern England, killing at least 19 people and injuring about 50, while British police said they were treating him as a terrorist incident.
Police said they were dealing with reports of an explosion in the Manchester Arena, which seats around 21,000 people.
"We were on our way and when we got to the door there was a huge explosion and everyone started shouting," said Katharine McFarlane, who attended the ceremony.
Everyone was running and yelling and trying to get out, "she said.
Witnesses said many of the children were at the ceremony.
The Manchester Arena is Europe's largest closed concert hall, opened in 1995 and hosts concerts and sporting events.
A spokesman for American pop star Grandi, 23, said she was "fine."
A video posted on Twitter showed members of the audience screaming and running outside.
Britain is on a security alert at the second highest level, which means the likelihood that militants will carry out a highly likely attack.
