Former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Ron Prosor the US administration to work to amend Resolution 1701 to become under Chapter VII with the aim of disarming Hezbollah and addressed before the war would be "expensive" according to his expectations.

Prosor said he could avoid the war between Israel and Lebanon only if the world has moved now led by the United States of America, noting in this context that it's time to update the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which UNIFIL forces failed to enforce its implementation.

He felt that "the United States should seek to amend the resolution 1701 to disarm Hezbollah and to make southern Lebanon a demilitarized zone under Chapter VII" also called to be the US contribution to the UNIFIL budget, which constitute 43% of the deployed peacekeeping forces budget at the Lebanese border Palestinian "conditional" performance.

Prosor also felt that "to find common ground in Lebanon and Syria would strengthen cooperation between Israel and the Sunni Arab states that are looking for a lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian problem."
