The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that Iraq has won the membership of the Executive Council of the World Health Organization. This victory is usually a step back to its leading position in the international community.
"Iraq won the membership of the Executive Council of the World Health Organization after the adoption of his candidacy by consensus of the member states of the Organization of 194 countries without any objection," said the spokesman of the ministry Ahmed Jamal in a statement received " The ninth plenary meeting of the 70th World Health Assembly, held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva ".
"The Executive Council comprises 34 member countries of the Organization and is the leading body of the World Health Organization (WHO) which directs the global health system," Gamal said.
"This victory comes within the framework of the efforts of the Foreign Ministry to mobilize international support and support to restore Iraq to its leading position in the international community and to gain high positions in the United Nations and its specialized agencies," the spokesman said.
