Arab and international Tuesday June 6, 2017

"Financial Times" US newspaper said that Qatar paid a huge ransom for Iranian intelligence officials and groups linked to "Al Qaeda" in exchange for the release of the ruling family members abducted in Iraq.

A report published by the newspaper confirmed that the Qatari authorities paid about $ 700 million to Iranian officials and Shiite regional organizations in exchange for the release of 26 fishermen Hawks diagonally, kidnapped in southern Iraq in December / December 2015, by "Hezbollah Iraq" Brigades.

Moreover, Doha paid, under the same deal, 200-300 million dollars for militant groups operating in Syria, including the "Liberation Sham Authority" associated with "Al Qaeda" and "free Sham", and at the request of Iran, in exchange for the release of 50 Shi'ite militants were detained by these groups.

The report quoted the newspaper activist in the Syrian opposition mediate in the negotiations between Qatar and militant groups, saying: "If you want to detect ways of Qatar funding for extremists, is sufficient to see the hostages deal of this," he said, adding that this process were not the first of its kind since the beginning of the war in Syria .

Furthermore, sources in the Syrian opposition indicate that Qatar has taken advantage of the so-called "four towns agreement" for the success of negotiations with Tehran.

The report argues that the deal, which took place in April / April last, is prompting a number of regional countries, chiefly Saudi Arabia, to the announcement, on Monday, cut ties with Doha.

The newspaper added that angered Saudi Arabia Qatar is not paying ransom for extremists, but to reach agreement between Doha and Tehran.
