A US Army soldier who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan and is currently based in Hawaii has been arrested on charges of providing material support to an al-Qaeda organization, the FBI said.
The 34-year-old soldier was under investigation by the army and the office for more than a year and was detained on Saturday, the office said in a statement.
A criminal case was filed in a US court in Honolulu that Kang Baiya Daqash, who controlled land in Syria and Iraq.
He was also accused of trying to provide military documents and training for hard-line organization, the FBI said in a statement.
